Ellsworth ‘Ells’ Gaskill, 89, passed away peacefully on December 31st, 2020.
Born on February 8, 1931, in Wildwood, NJ, to Earl and Sue Gaskill, Ells graduated from Wildwood High School. He retired from the 177th Fighter Wing in 1975. Always ready to help others, Ells served as a leader for Cub Scout Pack 42 and Boy Scout Troop 43 in Absecon for a number of years. Ells was a member of Atlantic Lodge No. 221 F&AM. He also worked with the Absecon Shade Tree Commission. Ells spent most of his time in his garage workshop, creating new pieces and honing his craft. When it came to woodworking, there wasn’t much he couldn’t do.
Ells was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Margaret (nee Duryea). He will be forever remembered by his children Ellsworth Jr. (Lynda) of Pleasant Garden, NC, Ralph (Patricia) of Absecon, and Linda Lancaster of Cary, NC. PopPop will be missed by his six grandchildren, Ellsworth III “JR” (Courtney), Nicholas (Brandi) Crosson, Adam, Jeremy (Brittney) Crosson, Christina (Nicholas) Piciocco, Timothy, and his nine great-grandchildren.
Due to COVID, a memorial celebration of his life will be on Saturday, June 19, 2021 with a gathering from 9AM to 11AM with a service at 11AM. Graveside service will follow at United Methodist Church at Absecon Cemetery, Pitney Road at Church Street, Absecon. Special thanks to the staff at Cooper University Hospital in Camden for their care and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
