Alfred J. Showell

Showell, Alfred J. (Jim), 84, of Absecon, passed away November 3, 2016. Born in Absecon, he was a life-long resident. Jim served in the US Coast Guard during the Korean War. He retired from New Jersey Bell in 1985, working there 35 years. He was a member of VFW #9462 in Absecon and a former member of the Masonic Lodge. He volunteered as a cub-scout and boy-scout leader with the local troops. He enjoyed traveling with his family, especially camping, helping out at the Absecon Bay Sportsman Center and liked to tinker and fix electronics in his spare time.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie E. (nee Booth); his children, David (Judith) Showell, Steve (Joanne) Showell, Diane (John) Hagaman, Timothy (Cecelia) Showell and Susan (Michael) Tull; his sisters, Ellen Elizabeth (Betty) Parker and Mary Sue Showell; his 15 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters; and his nephew Ray (Bernadette) Daley.

A memorial gathering will be 4PM to 4:30PM Saturday November 5, 2016, with a memorial service at 4:30PM at the Absecon VFW, 433 White Horse Pike, Absecon, NJ 08201.
