Herrera, Ben R., 95, of Absecon, passed away September 19, 2016. Born in Mariveles, Bataan, Philippines, he lived in Atlantic City before moving to Absecon 14 years ago. While living in the Philippines, he was involved in public office. He was the mayor of Mariveles and the Deputy Governor of Bataan. After moving to Atlantic City, he worked his own carpool company. He then worked at the Taj Mahal Casino and lastly as a change person with Resorts Casino, retiring many years ago.
He is predeceased by his wife, Lourdes Herrera; his daughter, Shirley Ramos; and his granddaughter, Elayza Herrera. He is survived by daughter, Solita Ramos; his sons, Arthur (Kim) Herrera, Mike Herrera, Isabelo (Elizabeth) Herrera Jr. and Joseph (Arceli) Herrera; his grandchildren, Michael Herrera, Brandon Herrera, Sonny (Maricel) Ramos, Mariesol (Richie) Banzon, Marivic Ramos, Marilou (Tuan) Nguyen, Mari-chis Herrera, Michael Kris Ben Herrera, Harold Herrera, Hardy Herrera, Joeben Herrera and Lorjana (Louie) Olalia; and his 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5PM to 8PM, Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon and 9:45AM to 10:45AM, Monday, September 26, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Ave., Absecon.
