Carmen J. Capone

Carmen J. Capone, of Absecon, passed away peacefully at home on December 30, 2013. During his growing years, he helped his father with his butcher shop on Arctic Avenue. He enjoyed all sports, playing basketball and football, efficiently using his skills as a ‘leftie’. Carmen was a US Navy veteran who served aboard the Battleship Tennessee and was a member of VFW Post 335 in Atlantic City. Carmen began his 42 years of service on the Seashore Lines in Atlantic City and retired from Conrail. During his tenure on the railroad, he was elected Local Chairman 58, Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen. He served as chairman of the board of trustees, United General Committee and New jersey Legislative Representative for Grand Lodge in Chicago.

In his hometown of Absecon, a town he loved, being an ardent fisherman, he was a member of the Absecon Salt-Water Sportsmen and served on the staff of the Greater Atlantic Bluefish Tournament. He also participated in ‘Hooked on Fishing’ and was a little league coach for the children of Absecon. And heaven only knows the homegrown tomatoes they will be receiving. He was especially proud and enjoyed immensely the musical, athletic and academic achievements of his adored five grandchildren, Mary Kay, Matt, Connie, Cece and Daniel.

Born in Atlantic City to his parents, the late Carl and Dorothy Capone, he is also predeceased by his brother, Louis. He is survived by his wife, Laurel (nee Pagnam); three sons, Victor (wife Lin), Kevin (Wife Anne Marie) and Christopher (Wife Margaret)
