Carol Joyce Ireland (nee Beck), devoted wife and mother, passed away suddenly December 21, 2015, with her family by her side. Born in Philadelphia, she moved to New Jersey at age 14. Carol worked at NJ State News from the late 70's until the early 80's. She then began house-keeping at Seaview Country Club and various hotels. She worked at AC Moore for 9 years, beginning in the mid 80’s. She then became a care-taker at Bayview Cottage in Galloway NJ until 2013.
She is survived by her husband, William P. Ireland; her children, Lisa (Obermann) Artuso (John Kacprowicz), Gary Obermann (Melissa) and Karen Ireland; 11 grandkids; 1 great-granddaughter; her sisters and brothers, Pat Mawson, Barbara Shaver, Michael Beck (Joanne) and Steven Beck (Christine); her aunts and uncles; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She is pre-deceased by her parents Viola (nee Nefferdorf) Boyd and Raymond Charles Beck; and her brothers and sisters, Raymond Beck, Charles Beck, Billy Beck, Linda Roberts, and Donna Beck.
Carol was a strong woman, hard worker and a true fighter. She battled many illnesses and surgeries since her mid 20's. It seemed nothing could get her down. She was always there for her husband, kids, and all her family. She loved traveling, Elvis, and finally got to see Graceland before suffering a stroke in 2013. Carol still continued to fight, making her jokes, taking no bull from anyone, and yes, still yelled at us from her bed. We miss that the most. There will never be another like her. Her family says she is a LEGEND, and legends don't die, they remain in our hearts as 'remember when '.
A memorial gathering will be 11AM to 1PM, January 9, 2015, at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon . Friends and family will then share memories and stories from 12:30-1PM, followed by Pastor closing services. Green house plants with cards or ribbons will be accepted. Please no flowers, as Carol did not like flowers. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Autism Speaks ( memo in memory of Carol Ireland ) addressed to Ms. Emily Krifels, Autism Speaks NJ, 216 Haddon Ave. suite 403 , Westmont, NJ 08108.
