Obituary For Charles G. Lowry

Lowry, Charles G., age 84, of Galloway, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024 with his son and daughter by his side, as a result of his weakened state after two bouts of pneumonia.

He was born on February 27, 1940 in Atlantic City, NJ, the husband of the late Janice Lowry. As a child and teenager growing up in Atlantic City he enjoyed going to the beach and fishing with his friends. He graduated from Atlantic City High School and married the love of his life, Janice, a marriage of over 50 years that lasted until her passing in 2014. Most of his career revolved around carpentry on residential construction projects and later in life he started his own successful trim contracting business. Charles was a man of all trades with mastery skills in carpentry (in 1970, he built the family home in Galloway, NJ) to renovating award winning classic cars to building, tinkering and fixing just about anything. He especially showed his love for his family and friends by helping them or building/fixing things for them. His love of cars extended to his corvettes and his prize-winning turquoise and white 1956 Chevy Belair. He was a proud member of the Cruisin’ Classics Car Club and participated in or attended various car shows and parades each year. He also enjoyed travel with his family driving across the United States, vacationing in Cabo San Lucas and Europe. In retirement, he enjoyed a special trip with his daughter to Eastern Africa where they were humbled seeing the various wild animals in the Serengeti during various game drives and trekking the amazing silver back gorilla on the border of the Congo and Rwanda.

Charles is survived by his children, Scott Lowry of Galloway, NJ and Susan Lowry of Fairfield, CT, and his relatives and many friends.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. To send online condolences, please visit www.parselsfh.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Charles may be made to the American Cancer Society online at https://donate.cancer.org/.

Charley was a close friend of mind and a great guy who would help anybody. We grew up in Bungalow Park in Atlantic City with other close friends—Wayne Hackney, Tom Budnick, Fronk Connolly, Ed Kay, and me Michael Tourigian. We enjoyed each other's company and remained friends. Frank Connolly and Wayne Hackney are also deceased. My sincere condolences go out Scott and Susan Lowry. If either of Charles's children wants to reach out to me I am adding my email address mtourigian@comcast.net

Susan and Scott.... Our deepest condolences in the passing of your father and our friend Charley. My wife knew Charley from growing up in Bungalow Park. I met him many years later and would see him around town. We built a house in Brigantine and hired Charley to do all the finish carpentry work along with installing the kitchen cabinets. From thereon our son hired him for his new home and whenever someone needed his expertise we recommended Charley and they were so pleased. I met you Susan having lunch with your Dad at Gilchrist in AC. You two have to be so proud of your Dad . Charley became a friend to everyone he came in contact with. Ron and Linda Coiro
