Obituary For Charles J. Guenther
Charles Joseph Guenther, Sr., (Charlie) 70, of Absecon passed away on January 8, 2025 after a lengthy illness. Charlie was born in Atlantic City and grew up in Brigantine. He attended St. Philip School and was a 1973 Graduate of Holy Spirit High school where he was a member of the Football, Wrestling and Crew teams. Charlie served on the Brigantine Beach Patrol and the Brigantine Police Department before starting a long career in security and surveillance in numerous Atlantic City casinos where he worked his way up to be an executive vice president and international consultant.
It was also in Brigantine that Charlie met the love of his life Kathy (Powell) which blossomed into a 42-year marriage and a wonderful family life with his children, Charlie Jr. and Alisa. Charlie was happiest when he was with his family camping, traveling, or at sporting events where he often served as the coach for local youth rowing, football, and softball teams. Charlie’s outgoing personality and charisma made everyone he encountered feel comfortable and enjoy their time together. He especially loved holidays and family celebrations where he was known as the “fun uncle.”
Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Kathy (nee Powell); son, Charlie Jr. (Angela); daughter, Alisa (Julio); brothers, Joseph (Eileen), Philip (Lee Ann); sister, Maureen (Bill); and 9 adoring nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary (nee Mulligan) Guenther.
