Charles Thomas

Charles A. Thomas, 84, of Galloway, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013 at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland. Born in Philadelphia, Pa, he lived in Atlantic City before moving to Galloway many years ago. Mr. Thomas was a United States Navy veteran, serving during World War II and the Korean War. He was a facilities Ship Manager, working with Trump Marina for 15 years, retiring in 2001. Prior to that he worked as an oil burner mechanic for Hagerty Oil Company in Northfield and also had worked for the Golden Nuggett. He also worked as a waiter for the 500 Club in Atlantic City for 13 years. Mr. Thomas was a previous member of the American Legion, Post #36 in Ludlow, VT and the VFW Post in Pleasantville. His liked to spend his spare time working on cars, fishing and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed traveling, after his retirement.

He is predeceased by his wife, Marie (nee Scannapieco); and his brother John Thomas. He is survived by his children, Gale (nee Thomas) Eldredge, Charles (Sandy) Thomas, Bill (Dawn) Thomas and Debbie (nee Thomas) (husband Rich) Aldridge; his grandchildren, Lisa, Matthew, and Brandi; his great-grandchildren, Phoenix, Alex and Austyn; his brother, Frank Thomas; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6PM to 8PM, Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A funeral Mass will be offered 11AM, Monday, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Pleasantville.
