Denise Lynne Crowe

Denise Lynne Crowe, 63, of Smithville, NJ, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016 in the comfort of her sister’s home and in the company of her family. Denise is survived by her loving family: her mother, JoAnne (Peluro) Filippi; sisters, Donna and husband Frank Dandrea, Deborah and husband Terry Burkholder, Diane and husband Ed Curland; brother, Col. David Filippi and wife Debra Filippi; brothers-in-law, James and John Crowe; sister-in-law, Mary and husband Robert Clymer; and eight beloved nieces and nephews.

Denise was born on January 30, 1953 in Portsmouth, Virginia to JoAnne Filippi and the late Delmo Filippi. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, where she met her husband of 25 years, William (“Billy”) Crowe, who passed away in 2001. Denise grew up attending Vineland’s Sacred Heart Grammar and High Schools.

Denise loved all things French. She studied at the Paris-Sorbonne University in 1974 and returned to Paris at every opportunity. Denise established a long and successful career in the hotel/casino industry, performing multiple roles ranging from dealer to casino floor supervisor. In 2001, Denise shifted her career focus to the fashion industry, working for the international brand, Salvatore Ferragamo. There she began as a sales associate and rapidly progressed to retail management.

Denise was a loyal friend to all who knew her, and even to those who did not. She was often “caught” in unexpected acts of kindness, such as tipping the toll booth collector, or sacrificing her holiday so that others could be with their loved ones. It was her born gift and a gift she shared with all.

A viewing will be held on Friday, April 29, 6 – 9pm, at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Avenue, Absecon, NJ. Also, a viewing will take place on Saturday, April 30, 9 – 10am, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Church of the Assumption, 146 South Pitney Road, Galloway.
