Donald Patrick Deegan

DEEGAN, DONALD PATRICK, 83, of Galloway, NJ passed away on November 20, 2016. Don has moved on to a place of peace and clarity, friendship and love. He has joined family and friends who have gone before him and have waited to welcome him. He will always remain here in the memories and the loving hearts of his family.

Don was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and his love of family was without limit. Beyond those traditional family roles, he was also a friend – ready to help, ready to play or be there if he was needed . He was always there with love and pride for his wife Grace, his son Don and his daughter Debbie, as well as their spouses, Glenna and Bill Pison. His love of family grew when grandchildren Gennifer and Nick came into his life. And great-grandchildren Brantley and Deegan put a smile on his face and made his eyes light up whenever they came to visit . When Nick found Ariana, Don’s love wrapped around her as well. His love and friendship extended to his many cousins and friends. He was always happy spending time with them. His favorite stories were about times with family. Those who knew him understood the magic he had and how he could make anyone open up to him and become a friend. Everyone he met he saw as a “a good guy' and he was always a faithful friend.

He loved sports and played baseball for his alma mater, Penn State. Throughout his life he was a dedicated follower of all their teams. Always active, he also played racquetball, basketball, softball, swam, skied and enjoyed his workouts. But the sport he loved best was tennis which he was able to play for many years; always ready for the next game.

He traveled the world during his career and was involved with executives, employees and celebrities from top companies in the world of cosmetics. Regardless of their titles everyone was treated equally. While working with George Lucas, he delighted in writing letters as Darth Vadar to the stores carrying Star Wars merchandise.

.

Don spent his last 10 months at Spring Village of Galloway. His family would like to thank the caregivers of both Spring Village and Grace Hospice for the love, attention and compassion shown to him. They are very special people.

Don left this world, the way he lived in it, with a song in his heart and a smile for everyone.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held at a future date. Donation to the Delaware Valley Branch of the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org/delval) would be appreciated. Condolences may be sent at www.parselsfh.com.
