Dorothy A. Halldorson, 96, of Port Republic, died Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Seashore Gardens Living Center, Galloway. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she lived in Oceanville before moving to Port Republic 55 years ago. She and her husband were co-owners of Oyster Creek Restaurant in Galloway for many years. During that time, she worked as a waitress and also helped out in the kitchen. She enjoyed playing bingo, loved going to the casinos and was also an avid Phillies fan. She also cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband, Sonny Halldorson. She is survived by her children, Marty (Loretta) Halldorson, Ruth Johnson and Janice Tozer; her grandchildren, Sandra Johnson, Steven Johnson, Sharon Johnson, Michael (Lisa) Tozer, Mark (Mary) Tozer, Marty (Kristin) Halldorson, Kelly (Steve) Brooks and Michael Halldorson; her great-grandchildren, Diane Smallwood, William Smallwood, Kathy Smallwood, Ashley Johnson, Mark Tozer, Jr. and Amanda Tozer; and her great-great-grandchildren, Shawn Kold and Warren Weimer.
Visitation will be 10AM to 11:30AM, Friday, March 1, 2013 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A service will follow immediately at 11:30AM. Burial will follow at Adams Cemetery, Port Republic. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 118 Main Street, PO Box 283, Port Republic, NJ 08241-9759.
