Durcilia Vazquez

Durcilia Vazquez, 78, of Egg Harbor Township, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2022. She was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Fermin Vazquez and Ezequiela Gonzalez.

Durcilia was a kind, loving soul who lived for her children and grandchildren. She was a woman of great faith. She loved to wake up in the morning to sing and praise God. She found comfort in him. She raised her children to love and respect one another but above all things, to always put God first.

Durcilia loved her home in Puerto Rico. She loved the simple country life. She found peace raising her chickens, gardening and growing vegetables. She loved all animals. She took pride in her Puerto Rican roots. She was passionate about her family, her faith and caring for others. She loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children. She gave so much of herself to each and everyone she came across. If you were fortunate enough to meet this amazing woman, you knew you were in the presence of an exceptional human being. Her heart was full of love for all those she touched. God has gained another angel and she will be missed dearly.

Durcilia is survived by her children, Evelyn Portalatin, Norma Varela, Victor Varela and Danny Varela; her grandchildren, Cynthia Portalatin, Mason Varela, Willie Portalatin, Marielis Varela and Lindsay Varela; her son-in-law, William Portalatin and daughter-in-law, Mariela Varela.

Visitation will be 10AM to 11:30AM Friday, January 14, 2022 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A service will follow at 11:30AM. Graveside service will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing. For online condolences, please visit www.parselsfh.com.
