Edward G. Simpson, 80, of Absecon, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2016, with his family by his side. Ed was born in Atlantic City on September 9, 1935 to the late Joseph and Mary (Gerlack) Simpson. He was raised in the inlet, attended local schools and had great memories of his days on the beach as an Atlantic City lifeguard. At 17, Ed enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He returned home to start his own business in automotive supplies and through long hours, dedication and honesty, made it a success. Ed loved spending time joking and laughing with his family, traveling far and wide, and listening to country music. Of course on his occasional visits to the casino, he really enjoyed a royal flush or four-of-a-kind.
Ed will be forever missed by his wife Georgia (nee Collinsgrove, Perri); his devoted sons, Kevin (Sheela), Greg (May-ling) and Scott (Amanda); his step-sons, Pete and Patrick Perri; his beloved grandchildren, Andrea and Nicholas Perri; and his faithful dog Ricky, who enriched his final years. In addition to his parents, Ed is predeceased by his ex-wife, Elaine F. Simpson; his brothers, Joseph and Eugene; and his sister, Mary.
Visitation will be 9:30AM to 10:45AM Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A funeral mass will be offered at 11:00AM. Enichement will follow at Laurel Memorial Park in Egg Harbor Township. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity or, as Ed would prefer, take someone you love to dinner.
