Edward J. ‘Murph’ Ireland, 85, a life-long resident of Pleasantville, passed away at the home of his daughter Liz, on January 8, 2021. Murph was a 42-year employee of Shop Rite, Absecon, where he worked as a manager. He was a founding member of the Pleasantville Volunteer Rescue Squad and enjoyed getting together with the ‘morning crew’ at McDonald’s. He was named Man of the Year by the Kiwanis Club of Pleasantville several years ago. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and boating. He always enjoyed the time he spent with his family and considered his biggest accomplishment being Pop-pop to his grandchild, Alex.
Murph is predeceased by his wife, Norma L. Ireland and his daughter, Lisa Tuohy. He’s survived by his daughter, Liz Derbyshire (Bob); his son-in-law, Ed Tuohy; his grandchild, Alex Tuohy; and his sister, Joyce Poley.
Visitation will be 10AM to 11:30AM on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. His service will follow immediately at 11:30AM.
