Edward W. Stearns

Stearns, Edward W., 57 of Absecon, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015 surrounded by family at home. Raised in the Atlantic City Inlet as a child, he graduated from Holy Spirit High School in 1976. 'Nice Guy' Eddie joined the ACFD in 1980, retiring after 26 years of service from Maryland Ave. Station 1. Ed also spent 30 years painting homes (starting with his father at 14) and served 18 years as a firefighter in the Air National Guard 177th. Ed married Margaret (nee Roche) in September 1988, and was the kindest, most loving father to a son, Edward Jr., and two daughters, Teresa and Bridget.

Ed was predeceased by his parents Wilbur and Jane Stearns, his two sisters Kathy Sykes and Lynne Smith-Bowen, and nephew Eddie Smith. He is survived by his wife Margaret; son Edward Jr. and daughters Teresa and Bridget; brother Bill Stearns (Pam); sister, Ireene Stearns; extended Roche family; and many nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 8th from 9am to 11am with services immediately after at Our Lady Star of The Sea Church, 2651 Atlantic Ave., Atlantic City.
