Adkisson, Emma D. (Nee Zellner), 83, of Absecon, Passed away on October 19th 2014. Emma was born July 28th, 1931 in Scullville, where she was raised by her grandmother Emma E. Zellner. Emma graduated Pleasantville High School in 1949. She was married to Russell I. Adkisson Sr. of Absecon in 1956, where she lived until the time of her death. Emma and Russell Sr. raised plants and vegetables and had a flower business located in Absecon. She later worked at Woolco Department Store in Pleasantville Shopping Center as a personnel manager, from the time the store opened in 1966 until its closing. Emma then worked at Dee Lumber (Linwood) in the personnel department until its closing. After the closing of Dee Lumber, Emma retired. She enjoyed gardening throughout her life and continued to raise vegetables and flowers until her passing. She will greatly be missed.
She is predeceased by her husband Russell (Bud); father, Raymond and his wife, Mary; mother, Gertrude and her husband, Bill Foreman; and her brother, Robert. Emma is survived by her son, Russell I. Adkisson Jr., his wife Linda; grandchildren Russell I. Adkisson III and Jessica L. Adkisson; his sister, Marion Ford and seven nieces and nephews.
Viewing, funeral services and burial will be held on Friday, October 24th, 2014 at Absecon Presbyterian Church, 208 New Jersey Ave., Absecon, beginning at 10:00AM, with a service at 11AM. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Benevolence Fund of the Absecon Presbyterian Church. Services are under the direction of Parsels Funeral Home, Absecon.
