Ethel is survived by her son, Dennis Scardilli, Absecon NJ, and daughter Deborah Wead, Scottsdale AZ; Dennis’ family, daughter-in-law Patricia Scardilli, their daughter Summer Henson and granddaughter Autumn Henson. Deb’s family; son-in-law Tim Wead, and two grandsons, TJ Wead and Addison Wead, and by her brother-in-law, Philip Scardilli, and his companion Joan Nale. Her niece, Susan Waldman, was also with her when she passed and she and her family were an important part of Ethel’s life. Her granddaughter Cara Scardilli, was waiting in heaven for her.
Ethel was an excellent cook and tireless homemaker, serving large meals for family and friends almost every evening. She and Joe were long-time active members of the Absecon Presbyterian Church. Joe was a Realtor and a member of the Absecon Lions Club for many years. Ethel and Joe loved to dance and could always be seen dancing so elegantly at Realtor and Lions functions.
Ethel served her children, taking Deb to dance classes, and attending theater and dance performances through the years. Ethel imparted her love for sewing and creating to Deb. She waited long hours, at the Absecon docks, for Dennis to return from clamming and encouraged him in his professional career. She and Dennis enjoyed spending long hours together in Phoenix eating, taking drives to the famous fountain; in Fountain Hills AZ, dining out, and sharing stories. Deb and Tim enjoyed entertaining her in their home.
After “snow birding” in Arizona for 10 years, Joe and Ethel moved there permanently in 2003. They loved spending time with their grandsons, there. Ethel got to see TJ graduate from ASU in My 2012 and Addison graduate from Scottsdale Christian Academy in May 2013. TJ and Addy took her to plays, dinners, and out for ice cream, they were the love of her life. Addy never failed to take her to church every Sunday and enjoyed taking her to the movies. Ethel taught her granddaughter, Cara, the joys of cooking and was deeply saddened at her passing.Ethel spent her last years enjoying herself in a senior living home winning big in the bingo tournaments 3 times a week. She loved the Arizona sun, meals with her friends, and family visits.
Ethel was greatly loved and she showed great love to her family and friends. We all love you, Mom. We’ll see you again.
