Frances Born

Frances H. Born of Absecon died Thursday, December 13, 2012. She was born January 21, 1925 in Atlantic City, the third child of Theodore and Louise (Moore) Hiltebrand. She attended Atlantic City public schools and graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1942. She worked at South Jersey Title Company and later worked for many years in the showroom at Lenox China in Pomona.

A creative and energetic artist, Frances was a skilled quilter who made numerous quilts and completed many others she discovered in antique stores and similar venues. Many of her quilts have been distributed among friends and family members. She also created and framed complex pressed flower pictures, which she sold at area art and craft shows and galleries.

She married John F. Born, a former vice president of Atlantic City Electric Company, on September 10, 1942. Together they had three sons: John F. of Mays Landing; Thomas E. (Mara) of Tuckerton; and Matthew J. (Diana) of Glenside, PA. She is survived by her husband and three sons along with six grandchildren, all Borns: Jonathan (Kimberly), Christopher (Rachel), Daniela, Joanna, Stefan, and Augustus Francis. She is also survived by one great granddaughter, Isabella Sophia Born.

A viewing will take place Tuesday, December 18, from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Absecon. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated following the viewing. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing. The family suggests in lieu of flowers a donation be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Avenue, Absecon, NJ 08201, or to a charity of one’s choice.
