Frances Mahaffey

Frances Mahaffey, 91, of Absecon, passed away December 29, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she lived in Atlantic City before moving to Absecon, where she has lived for over 60 years. Frances worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone as an office supervisor for many years, retiring in 1990. She was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Absecon where she was a member of the comfort ministry. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, AARP, Mature Adults and TAGS Club. She also loved traveling, whether bus trips to special events, stage shows or to sightsee different states or overseas, to visit her daughter in Austria. She loved playing cards and was an avid reader, as well.

She is predeceased by her husband, Warner Mahaffey. She’s survived by her daughters, Joan (Arthur) Searfoss and Theresa (Christopher) Rolfe; her grandchildren, Nancy Searfoss, Bryan Searfoss and Evan Rolfe; her great-grandson, Michael Searfoss; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Margaret Mahaffey; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 9:15AM to 10:45AM Saturday, January 7, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A funeral mass will follow at 11AM. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
