Francis passed away peacefully at Our Lady’s Residence on February 4, 2013. Born in Bridgeton in 1929, Francis was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Catherine, and an uncle, John Koller. Francis was mostly known for his quiet presence and his gentle smile. He led an active spiritual life and was a member of the Divine Mercy Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order. Francis gratefully accepted what Our Lord and what life had to offer him and always shared the fruits of his love for crocheting with former Smithville Inn co-workers, church friends and nursing home employees. It would be difficult to count the number of afghans, lap robes, chair covers, pot holders, and Christmas stockings that were made and sent to his many friends. He was most proud of the myriad colored afghans that, he professed, would rival Joseph of Egypt’s coat of many colors. Francis will be missed.
Funeral services will be held at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Avenue, Absecon, on Thursday, February 7th. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00AM, preceded by a viewing from 9:00 to 9:45AM. In lieu of flowers, please offer any donation to St Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in memory of Francis.
