Obituary For Frank 'Fra' Lavery

Frank (Fra) Lavery, 63, of Absecon, passed away December 14, 2024. Born in Andersonstown, Belfast, Ireland, he grew up there before coming the United States in 1984. When he came to the United States, he worked as a bartender in Atlantic City at the Greater Pittsburgh Bar and the Scranton Bar. He worked as a Valet for Bally’s and Taj Mahal Casinos. When he ended his time at the casinos, he worked as a crossing guard for the Absecon Police Department. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and playing darts and was also an avid reader. He took the time and self-taught himself to play the concertina. In the last several years, he also learned Spanish, allowing him to better communicate and assist people who needed help with interpretation and to better communicate with his co-workers.

He is survived by his wife, Brigid A. Lavery; his sisters and brothers, Nora, Margaret, Johnny and Anthony; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A gathering will be 9:45AM to 10:45AM on Friday, December 20, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A funeral Mass will be offered at 11AM.     Frank always knew all the kids names and even the parents/grandparents. Everytime we came to pick up the kids, he would get out of his car and greet us while we walked together across the road. May he rest easy. Job WELL DONE my friend

    My condolences to the family of Mr Frank. I had many nice conversations over the years with Mr Frank while picking up my girls from school. He always made sure we crossed that intersection safely. One of the nicest kindest humans I've ever met. He knew my girls by name and looked after them. We will miss you Mr Frank.
