Kazarnowicz, Gervase (Geri), 70, of Galloway, Sunrise January 30th, 1947 – Sunset June 14th, 2017. Geri or ‘Dragon Lady’, as she was affectionately known by her police co-workers, passed the way she lived – on her own terms. Gervase was born at Fort Benning, GA (home of the infantry) and traveled the world during her early years, finally settling in Atlantic City. She attended Our Lady Star of The Sea Grammar School, frequently referencing her favorite diction teacher (E-D-E-DOE) (Bursting Bubbles by Billions). From there, it was off to Atlantic City High School where she graduated with the class of 1965 (the biggest the best). Geri distinguished herself with many honors and accolades which are too numerous to mention but a few of the many should be recognized: Lettering four years on the swim team, president of the PC club and President of the GALS sorority. Gervase’s formal education ended with ACHS but her love of learning never ceased. In later years, she taught herself French and Portuguese to better communicate as she pursued her favorite past time – traveling. At last count, Geri had visited 72 countries, with the most memorable trip being aboard the Oriental Express. Between trips Gervase was a long time employee for the City of Atlantic City, serving in several supervisory positions, first in Revenue and Finance under Commissioner Bryant than in the Police Dept under Chief Pasquale. Geri was perhaps the funniest person you ever met and if you did know her, you have a smile on your face as you read this. Geri is predeceased by her parents, Eleanor and Edward (Colonel) Kazarnowicz and her sister Patricia (Patti). She leaves behind her stepmother, Mary Kazarowicz, her beloved attack dog Henry and life-long friends Connie Tishnor (Campbell) and Chris & Richard Young. Visitation will be Thursday June 29th from 10:30AM to 11:00AM, followed by a mass of Christian Burial from 11:00AM to 12:00 noon at Our Lady Star of The Sea Church, 2651 Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City. Graveside will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Geri’s memory to WalshiesWarriors.com. for online condolences, please visit www.parselsfh.com.
