Obituary For Giuseppe Nanfara
On the evening of February 7, 2025, Giuseppe Nanfara, surrounded by the warmth of his family’s love, gracefully departed this world at the age of 87. Giuseppe was born on January 9, 1938 in the small town of Delia in Sicily, Italy. He was one of six children to Giuseppe and Giuseppa Nanfara. Growing up with a large family on a farm in the heart of the island, he spent his days enjoying the simplicities of life; fresh food and time with family. It was not long before he met the love of his life, Giuseppina. From that moment on they became inseparable. Their legacy of love would transcend decades and cross continents. Giuseppe and Giuseppina’s love would be blessed with four children: Josephine, Vicky, Steven, and Concetta.
Giuseppe immigrated his family to America in 1969. Giuseppe, Giuseppina, and their children settled in the Ducktown neighborhood of Atlantic City. There he grew his first garden in America and turned grapes into homemade wine. From Atlantic City to Galloway, Giuseppe would build his family their forever home. It was then that he retired from the service industry to embrace his most prized role of being a fulltime Nonno to his grandchildren.
As dawn would approach on the warmth of summer mornings, Giuseppe could be found in his large garden full of ripe tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, bountiful string beans, and more. Afterwards, he would take a moment to sit on the bench admiring the view of his home and seeing his love smile at him from the kitchen window. Giuseppe genuinely cherished every moment of life. Whether small or big, he found reason to celebrate each with a cake, a barbeque, family and friends, who would become part of his family, by his side. He treasured those moments so much so that his favorite shows to watch were the home videos of weddings, birthdays, and anniversary celebrations. The combination of his physical power, playful banter, and unwavering love for his family allowed him to fully embrace all the joys of life for as long as he did.
He is survived by his most profound love and enduring joy, his wife of 62 years, Giuseppina; his children, Josephine (Aden) Steindl, Vicky (Paul) Preziosi, Steven (JoAnne) Nanfara, and Concetta (Matt) Carmen; his grandchildren, Samantha (Chris) Notos, Aden (Jackie) Steindl, Anthony (Rachael) Preziosi, Alexa Preziosi, Cameron Carmen, Giana Carmen, Giuseppe Nanfara, and Sierra Nanfara; and his great-grandchildren, Josephine and Catalina Notos, Lucy Steindl, and James Preziosi. He is also survived by his sister, Provvidenza LoDato. Giuseppe was predeceased by his parents, Giuseppe and Giuseppa Nanfara; and his siblings, Stefano, Vita, Antonio, and Luigi.
On Thursday, February 13, a visitation will be held at 9:45AM followed by a Catholic Funeral Mass at 11:00AM at St. Michael's Church, 10 N. Mississippi Avenue in Atlantic City. Burial immediately following Mass at the Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum at 5601 Harding Highway in Mays Landing. For online condolences, please visit www.parselsfh.com.
