Jacklyn E. Melder

Jacklyn E. Melder (81) of Absecon passed away on Thursday the 8TH OF January, 2015. Born in New York City, she moved to Atlantic City in the 1940’s where she met and fell in love with her husband Cliff. They married and settled in Absecon where she has lived in the family home for the past 60 years.

An early female entrepreneur, she started, owned and operated two retail businesses; Jacklyn’s Costume Shop and Jacklyn’s Drum of Gifts, both located on New Jersey Avenue in Absecon.

She is predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years Cliff. Jackie is survived by her two children Cliff (Donna) Melder of Mays Landing and Joyce (Jeff) Hayden of Calabash, NC ; five grandchildren, Blair (Jamie) Hayden of Absecon, Ross Hayden of Smithville, Chelsi (Brian) Crompton, Logan (Sean) Berry, and Clifford Melder along with 2 great grandchildren Xander and Cyrus Crompton, all of Mays Landing.

A memorial gathering will be 3PM to 5PM, Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A memorial service will follow at 3PM. For online condolences, please visit www.parselsfh.com.
