James E. Goss

James E. Goss, 89, of Absecon, passed away at home, October 1, 2012. Born in Montgomery, Ala, he has been a resident of Absecon for over 50 years. Mr. Goss has been retired for many years from William H. Rohrer Pharmaceutical in Fort Washington, PA, where he worked as a salesman for 20 years. He was a 20 year US Navy veteran, serving in WW II and the Korean War. During rescue efforts in the Battle of Okinawa, Japan, he injured his back, remaining in the hospital for 1 years. After his time in the service, Mr. Goss dedicated his life to volunteering for his community. He was instrumental in the formation and training of the Absecon Ambulance Squad. He was a life member of the Absecon Fire Department, he was also a former council member for the City of Absecon. He was a 35 year volunteer with Atlantic City Medical Center, Mainland Division and also active with Atlantic County Crime Stoppers. His hobbies included clowning, for which he appeared as a clown for many charities, the Absecon Fire Department and during several Absecon parades.

Mr. Goss is survived by his wife, Viola M. (Torok) Goss; his sons, James, M.and his wife Marybeth, Joseph G. and his wife Suann and Peter M. Goss; his grandson, Sean M. and his wife Tess Goss; and his great-grandchildren, Evan, Elliot, Ezra Sue and Eric Goss and Joseph and Suann's granddaughter, Kimberly and her husband Tom Jupin and their children, Thomas, Taylor and Riley.

A memorial gathering will be 11AM to 12PM, Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Ladies Auxiliary, Atlanticare Foundation, 2500 English Creek Ave., Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234.
