James H. Gouldey Jr.

Gouldey Jr., James H., 88, of Galloway, NJ, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022. Jim was born in Pleasantville, NJ on October 1, 1933. He spent part of his childhood in Absecon, NJ as well as being a military brat living many places across the country. Jim returned to Absecon, and he graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1951. 61 years ago, he moved to Galloway Township with his wife Jane. Jim was an Electrical Systems Engineer for Atlantic City Electric before retiring in late 1980’s. He was a veteran with the United States Air Force, during the Korean War, serving seven years. He was a parishioner of the Church of Assumption. He was a member of The Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia, Quarter Century Club and Aleetah Red Men. He was a major supporter of the Red Cross.

Jim was a private man of many interests. He continued to challenge himself by studying and learning on a multitude of subjects. He loved to research family history. He enjoyed listening to jazz, bluegrass and classical music. He was a huge fan of Jane Austen, but his passion was trains. Everyone who knew Jim was aware of his lifelong obsession with collecting anything that had to do with the Railroads. Jim’s favorite vacation was to visit trainyards and watch the engines going on by.

Jim is predeceased by his wife Pauline Jane (nee Stanton). He is survived by Catherine Groves (Forrest), Ellen McDonal (Gregory), James Gouldey and John Gouldey; grandchildren, Christopher, Natasha, Gregory, Kyle, Kiersten and Tara; and four great-grandchildren.

As according to his wishes, the service was private. He was interred next to his beloved wife at Holy Cross Cemetery, in Mays Landing. Online condolences may be placed at www.parselsfh.com.
