Joseph F. Wilk, 96, of Atlantic City, NJ, formerly of Philadelphia and Bensalem, PA and Hollywood, FL passed away peacefully with his family at his side on December 9.
Born to the late Stanislaw and Anna (Mis) Wilk, husband of 74 years to Anne L. (Chojnacka) Wilk, father of Virginia Campbell (Duncan), Port Norris, NJ and Linda Williams (Robert), Medford, NJ.
His family moved to Bucks County where Joe graduated from Bensalem High School and lettered in football, track and basketball. Interested in helping youth, Joe worked with the Sea Scouts. Being already in the Naval Reserves, when WWII began, he was promptly shipped out, not to see his wife and daughter for several years. Upon returning home he was employed by Rohm & Haas Chemical Co, then after retiring continued working at the Diplomat Hotel and Panciera Funeral Home in Hollywood, FL. Family obligations brought them back to Philadelphia and then to Atlantic City where they have enjoyed life at “The Ritz” for over 10 years!
His favorite love was his wife and family, but Joe also enjoyed watching the Phillies and Eagles, solving problems, bringing joy to all with lots of jokes and strolling the boards.
Joseph is also survived by Grandchildren Jennifer McCarthy (Jack) of Lynchburg, VA; Robert Huntley (Marijke) of Port Norris, NJ; Alexa Hibbert Edelman (Paul) of Asheville, NC; Delia Lehmann (Christian) of Cinnaminson, NJ; Jessica Williams Pias (Demetrius) of Oaklyn, NJ; Great-Grandchildren John, Hunt and Virginia McCarthy, Gerard Huntley, Anna Hibbert, Brett Lehmann, Mila and Philippos Pias, many nieces and nephews and his many friends and neighbors at The Ritz Condominiums. He was pre-deceased by brother’s Frank and Walter and sister’s Sonia Szymkowski, Mae Luczak and Florence Kirn.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 28 at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal/Anglican Church, 1989 Route 70 East, Cherry Hill, NJ. Family visitation will be at 11:00 am and Service at Noon. The family will have a private burial. Joe was always concerned about the needs of children, therefore, any memorials in Joseph’s honor may be thankfully made to either of the organizations…Save the Children or Food for the Poor.
