Joseph J. Amoroso

Amoroso Jr., Joseph J. ‘Buddy’, 85, of Egg Harbor Twp., passed away September 2, 2017. He was born in Atlantic City and raised in Ducktown, he lived in Brigantine and then was a resident of Egg Harbor Twp. for the past 15 years. Joseph was a US Marine veteran, serving in Korea. He was a motorcycle police officer for Atlantic City Police Department, retiring as detective sergeant. He was a member of the VFW Post # 9462 in Absecon, the American Legion, both in Absecon and Brigantine and the Brigantine Elks Lodge. He was also a member of the Atlantic City PBA and was one of the founding members of the Atlantic City PAL. In his free time he loved dancing with all of his lady friends, playing golf and fishing. He also played drums in several local bands.

He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph J. and Eleanor Amoroso, Sr. He is survived by his children, Patricia Zamarano, Joseph J. Amoroso, III and Diane Marie Amoroso; his sister, Diane C. Amoroso; his grandchildren, Steven, Danielle, Dana, Diana, Robert Scott, Nikolas and Alexa Isabella; 4 great-grandchildren; and his former wife, Madeline Bassion.

Visitation will be 9:30AM to 11:30AM on Saturday September 9, 2017 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A service will immediately follow at 11:30AM at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will take place at Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Absecon VFW #9462, PO Box 136, Absecon, NJ 08201.
