Hannum, Josephine- 87, of Smithville, passed away comfortably with her rosary in hand on December 19th 2015. Born in Trenton, NJ to the late Salvatore and Mary Ferdetta and predeceased by her husband John of 45 years, six brothers and sisters along with her son-in-law, Brad Korngold and grandchildren, Jenny and Joseph Wenz. She is survived by her sister Mary and brother Samuel, of Trenton, as well as her three daughters; Mary Bock, Suzanne Korngold, and Lisa Wenz (Robert). Known to her grandchildren as “MeMom”, she is also survived by John, LJ, Kasey, Kevin, Megan, Kristi, Robert Jr.(Abby), Carly, Chris, Annie and her great-grandchildren Ella, Adeline and Jason.

Josephine and her late husband John were long time owners of the “Absecon Dairy Queen” and enjoyed summers on the beach in Ventnor and winters in Florida. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling the world, playing cards and spending time with her family. She will be remembered most by the community for her famous meatballs and Sunday dinners.

“Jo”was also an active member in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Viewing will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Ave., Absecon, on Wednesday December 23, 2015 from 9am to 10:45am with mass celebrated immediately following. Burial will follow mass at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing. In lieu of flowers, and because of MeMom’s willingness to give, donations may be made to benefit the local homeless at RiseUpAC C/O William Wenz 710 New York Ave, Absecon NJ 08201.
