Katy C. Charles

Kathryne C. Charles (Katy), 30, of Westville, formerly of Galloway, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 after a long struggle with Bipolar Disorder. Born in Atlantic City, she lived in Galloway until she moved to Westville with her fianc in 2013, where she looked to start another chapter in her life, and to start a family. Katy’s talents were boundless. She was an award winning singer and dancer, working in several lounges and nightclubs in the Atlantic City casinos. She also would sing at weddings and other special occasions upon request. She did some radio voice work. She became a face painter for a while, and hoped to start a party entertainment business. She also dreamed of doing a lot of charity work once she was feeling better. She loved music and the arts. She enjoyed drawing, writing, history, video editing and video games. She had a love for exploring the beauty of nature. She loved animals, particularly cats and domesticated rats, of which she adopted many over the years. She also loved to volunteer at the local animal shelter. She loved kids, and was great with them. She had a knack for be able to play numerous instruments by ear. She could take any known song and make a hilarious parody, or changing the words to make it all about her daughter. She was witty, and her humor was so wonderful that it’s indescribable, yet so distinctive to those who knew her well. Her laugh and smile were like nothing the world has seen before or will see again. Her greatest joy in life was her daughter Brianna. Being a mother to her was her most precious gift. Although their time together was short, Brianna will know how much her mother loved her and all the joy Katy brought to this world through the memories of those who loved her, and the countless photos and videos they took together.

She is survived by her fianc, Richard (Rick) Karrer; her daughter Brianna Ruth Karrer; her parents, Joe and Pat (Wheeler) Charles Sr.; her brother, Joseph (Joe) Charles Jr., her sister-in-law Allisyn Charles; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Visitation will be 3PM to 8PM, Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A service will be at 7:30PM. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family for Brianna’s wellbeing and future would be appreciated. For online condolences, please visit: www.parselsfh.com
