Obituary For Lisa Marie Dunn

Dunn, Lisa Marie, 40, of Egg Harbor Twp., passed away peacefully on September 26, 2023 after a courageous one year battle with cancer. Born in Atlantic City, she grew up in Absecon, graduating from Holy Spirit High School and Stockton University. Lisa’s first job was in home healthcare where she cared for those with health concerns and she quickly became a part of their families. She went on to find her life’s true calling as a head veterinary technician and groomer for Newkirk Family Veterinarians in 2007, where she dedicated countless hours caring for thousands of pets. In her limited free time, she enjoyed hanging out with Ernie, Bon-Bon, family, friends, and most of all, her many pets. Lisa will be dearly missed by all, people and animals, whose lives she touched.

Lisa is predeceased by her father, John, as well as her maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her fiancé, Ernest McCracken; mother, Bonnie; brother, Brian (Nicole); niece, Madison; and nephew, Bryce; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. She is also survived by her pets: dogs, Bert, Xena, Zelda, Zeus, Zola; cats, Tuna, Amelia, Wanda, Otis, Ralph, Ursula, Mya, Pearl; Rubicon the Iguana; and Grimm the Gecko.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 3 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave, Absecon. A service will immediately follow at 7:00 pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Funny Farm Rescue and Sanctuary, Mays Landing. Online condolences may be placed at www.parselsfh.com.

Lisa and her kind spirit & love of animals will be in my fondest memories. Upon first meeting her @ Newkirk Vet office I liked her very much as did my Saint Bernard Amadore. He loved her. Lisa was the first and only groomer I felt comfortable with my dog from day one. She knew exactly how to handle my dog's grooming anxiety and reassure me he was okay as well. She always had a smile on her face and dedicated so much of her time and love to every animal she ever made contact with. She built amazing rapport with my dog and so many other animals and I know we will definitely miss her.

Our prayers are being sent to Lisas family, friends and fur babies. Lisa holds a very special place in our hearts. She took care of our Abigail for many year. Lisa was the only person Abbey would let groom her and her favorite tech. Our hearts are broken but we know Abbey and all the other fur babies are now with Lisa. Maggie and Dan Adkisson

Ernie, Bonnie and all of Lisa's crew: I am so deeply saddened to hear of Lisa's loss. She was a huge part of my life, as we started our vet tech careers the same week at Newkirk's. I loved so much working with her, going to movies, the casinos , and just hanging out at her apartment/then her house near the shore mall. She was a beautiful person and one of the kindest souls. I feel blessed to have had known her. My thoughts are with her whole family and her fur kids.

My prayers for your family. I first met Lisa at a time of sadness for me due to death of a young dog. Later I would grow to respect her deeply for the way she cared for a worry wart bloodhound named Watson when he was at the vet...with such tenderness and patience. May she find rest and peace

Ernie, Bonnie, and the rest of Lisa's family - I am so sorry for your loss. Lisa was a wonderful, gentle, caring, and loving person. I met Lisa through Newkirks (of course). She was an awesome vet tech. She cared about my fur kids like they were her own. No matter the time of day, she was always available for my questions or when I was worried if something was wrong with one of the fur kids. Lisa was also the absolute GREATEST pet sitter. I always knew the fur kids were in good hands with Lisa caring for them. She would send me photos and text me updates so I never had to worry. Lisa touched so many people. She will be greatly missed. I will miss my friend. Karen Jones

We Offer the Book of Memories™

Parsels Funeral Home offers what we consider to be the finest example of online memorials, the Book of Memories™. Created by an award-winning team of web developers and designers while being led by a funeral professional with over 25 years of experience, this online memorial is intended to provide your family with a permanent place to pay tribute to your loved one.

Far more than a traditional obituary—which is usually published only once and has no interactivity at all—the Book of Memories™ Memorial Website is a fully interactive archive of treasured photographs and stories remembered from their time spent with friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers.

You’ll be able to invite others to visit the online memorial, where they can upload images, share stories, write heart-felt messages of condolence, send a floral tribute to the funeral, or make a charitable donation in memory of your loved one. And the built-in social media integration means they can then “spread the word” about their addition to your loved one’s Book of Memories™ using Facebook and Twitter.

We offer the families we serve a Book of Memories™ memorial website with the intention that it gives you a measure of solace and comfort during the coming months. To arrange for a Book of Memories® memorial website for your loved one, contact us today.
