Lydia Nixon Brown (nee Peterson) passed away late Monday night, surrounded by loved ones, just six days after her 95th birthday. Born and raised in Atlantic City, NJ to William & Helen Peterson, she was the second eldest of nine children. She was blessed with four children, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. Lydia was a ray of light to everyone she encountered. Full of spunk and tenacity she truly lived life to the fullest. She worked at Hackney’s and Capt. Starns in Atlantic City, was an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Absecon NJ, belonged to the Altar & Rosary Society and enjoyed bowling for the Catholic Daughters bowling league. Always thinking of others, Lydia was also a volunteer in area nursing homes for years bringing entertainment to the elderly with her dance troop the Senior Steppers. Lydia had a passion for life, loved to dance and spend time with her family and friends. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Allen L. Brown Sr. and her three loving sons, Allen L. Brown Jr., Donald T. Brown and William N. Brown. She is survived by her sister Anna May and brother Joseph Peterson, daughter Susan Beckley, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her dearly. Her beautiful smile and warmth will be forever missed by all who knew her.

Viewing will be 8:45AM to 9:45AM Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A funeral mass will be offered at the church at 10AM.
