Margaret (Fehn) Meehan, of Lions Head Woods in Brick, died peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2014, at Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck. Born in Newark on Feb. 6, 1926 to Nora (nee Dwyer) and Frank Fehn. She was raised in Newark and graduated high school from Benedictine Academy in Elizabeth. A graduate of Newark State Teachers College, she worked for 22 years in Union and Irvington, retiring in 1987. She had been a member of the Irvington Professional Woman's Club and the NJ Association of Federal Program Administrators. She lived in Maplewood and Millburn before moving to Lions Head Woods in 1988, where she became the first elected President to the Board of Trustees for the Condo Association. She was also active in the Women's Club and various other committees and organizations in her community. As a volunteer at Visitation Church, she worked for the Helping Hands Organization. She was a parishioner at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Brick. She was predeceased by her husband, James in 1982 and in 2006, by her brother, Frank J. Fehn, a retired East Orange Police Lieutenant. She is survived by three sons and two daughters, James of Sierra Vista, AZ, William of Cudjoe Key, FL, Michael of Moonachie, Nora Gottschlich of Peoria, AZ and Margaret Mary Taylor of Edmond, OK; eight grandchildren, Sean, Megan, Kimberly, Sarah, Thomas, Colin, Connor and Kathleen. She is also survived by a dear cousin, John Dwyer Meehan of Florida. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 2 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Hwy. 88, Brick. A Funeral Mass will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3 at the Church of the Visitation in Brick. Burial will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park in Toms River. -
