Margaret Sooy

Margaret (Peg) Sooy, 95, of Absecon, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013 at Royal Suites Healthcare in Galloway. Born and raised in the inlet section of Atlantic City, she’s lived in Absecon for over 40 years. Mrs. Sooy was a telephone operator with South Jersey Gas Company in Pleasantville, working there for 30 years and retiring in 1983. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Absecon. She especially enjoyed playing bingo, playing the slots at the casino’s and she was an avid NASCAR fan.

She is predeceased by her husband, Chester E. Sooy. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward (Chet) and Jacqueline Sooy; her grandchildren, Edward C. (Lisa) Sooy, Jr., Janine Sheridan and Jacqueline (Dan) Huff; and her great-grandchildren, Brenna, Eddie, Mikaela and Sara.

Visitation will be 9AM to 10:45AM, Monday, June 24, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. The funeral liturgy will immediately follow at 11AM. Burial will be at Laurel Memorial Park, Egg Harbor Township.
