Marjorie Elaine Showell, 87, of Absecon, passed away July 23, 2021, at home surrounded by her family. Margie was born December 26, 1933 in Margate to Arthur and Violet Booth. She lived in Margate until moving to Absecon in 1946. She was a graduate of Pleasantville High School. As a newlywed to her late husband, Alfred James (Jim) Showell, she worked as a secretary for the Pleasantville Board of Education. She eventually became a full-time wife and mother to her 5 children. She was an active member for 65 years of the Chi Delta Sorority, where she maintained several life-time friendships. She was also a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, a girl scout leader for the Absecon Girl Scouts and a member of the United Methodist Church at Absecon. In her free-time she loved traveling with her family. She and her husband Jim traveled extensively in their RV and enjoyed spending winters in Florida. She also loved kayaking, playing the piano, and sitting by her window enjoying the scenery.
She is predeceased by her husband, Jim Showell; her great-grandson, Michael Scott Martin (Scotty); her parents, Arthur and Violet Booth; her brother, Allan Booth; and her mother-in-law, Beatrice Forbes. Margie is survived by her children, David Showell (Judith), Steven Showell (Joanne Rouse), Diane Hagaman (Tom), Timothy Showell (Cecelia) and Susan Beth Tull; her brother, Ronald Booth; her grandchildren, Kevin Showell, Kimberly Showell, River Cox, Kendra Rouse-Showell, Emily Rouse (Erika), Lana Zellner (Jeffrey), Cara Rothe (Kenneth), Megan Hagaman, Nathan Hagaman (Lindsey), Amanda Hagaman, Patrick Showell, Rachael Martin (Michael), Alexander James Showell, Christy Cox, Logan Tull (Kitaira); her great-grandchildren, Bodhi Cox, Cameron Cox, Asha Cox, Marlo Rouse, Kennett Rothe, Juniper Rothe, Trevor Hagaman, Miley Martin, Cambree Cox; her nephew, Raymond Daley (Bernadette); her life-time friend, Charles Hammell; as well as many other nieces, nephews and friends.
A gathering will be 4:30PM to 6PM on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at United Methodist Church at Absecon, 100 Pitney Rd., Absecon. A service will follow immediately at 6PM.
