Obituary For Mary L. DeRitis
Mary L. DeRitis née Costabile (Marylou, Mare) 76, of Absecon passed peacefully into eternal slumber surrounded by loving family on March 22, 2023. Marylou exuded unconditional love for her family and friends. She led by example showering all with love (sometimes tough love) laughter and many life lessons. Marylou will be remembered and forever loved for her quick wit, love of family and her adventurous spirit.Mary was the oldest of eight siblings and was born and raised in Atlantic City, NJ. where she worked at Candy Corner for many years. She later moved to Absecon with her family and that would be where she called home. She was very well-known and well-loved in her community. Mary Lou was employed by Absegami High School for many years until she retired, and she found great joy in her work there and made many life-long friendships. Mary was a lover of books, bingo and cards, and enjoyed spending time with her family most of all.Marylou is preceded in death by her parents Anna and Neil Costabile, her husband Al, son Tommy, brothers Louie, Jimmy, Neil and Frank, sister Barbara, and niece Kristin. She is survived by her sister Rosemarie, brother Edward, granddaughter Gabriella, grandson Tommy, sister-in-laws Barbara Costabile, Kathy Costabile, Carol Costabile, Marylou Costabile, and Betty Costabile, her loving nieces and nephews, cousins and many loyal friends.A gathering and celebration of life will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 5-7pm at Parsel’s Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon, NJ 08201. Interment will be private.
