Michael Chester Shipton

Michael Chester Shipton, 58, of Absecon, passed away Saturday March 14, 2015, at home, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he lived in Margate before moving to Absecon 8 years ago. Mr. Shipton attended Spring Garden College in Philadelphia, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree, graduating in 1983. He had a varied career path, beginning with accounting and ending with free-lance writing. His passion was fishing. He also loved hunting and was an avid sports fan, following the Philadelphia sports teams.

He is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Joan (nee Gadzinski) Shipton and his brother, Joseph Shipton. He is survived by his wife, Marybeth Butler; her daughter and fianc, Caitlin Butler and Joseph Rosenblit, of Absecon; and his brother and sister, David Shipton of Maple Shade and Patti Shipton of Philadelphia.

Visitation will be 11AM to 1PM, Tuesday March 17, 2015 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A service will follow at 1PM. Cremation will be private. For online condolences, please visit www.parselsfh.com.
