Mildred R. La Vigna

Mildred R. La Vigna, 78, of Absecon, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. Born in Philadelphia, she was raised in Atlantic City and has lived in Absecon for 56 years. She attended Holy Spirit High School, graduating in 1954. Mrs. La Vigna was employed as an office manager for Dr. Chang’s office in Atlantic City. She worked there for 12 years before retiring. One of her favorite things to do was to play the penny slots at the Borgata Casino, in her free time. She loved her family and enjoyed the time she spent with them, especially her grandchildren. They will remember her as always finding good in people and being loved by all who knew her. She also showed her concern for people by volunteering for Contact in Somers Point, a suicide prevention hotline.

She is predeceased by her son, David La Vigna; and her brother, James Owen. She is survived by her husband, Bernard J. La Vigna; her sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Sherry, of Cherry Hill and Robert and Tina, of Galloway; 19 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 10AM to 12PM, Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A service will follow immediately at 12PM. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery in Egg Harbor Twp. For online condolences, please visit www.parselsfh.com.
