Obituary For Minerva Johanna Stadlmeir
Stadlmeir, Minerva Johanna, 96, of Absecon, passed away January 18, 2024, in Galloway Township. She was born in Egg Harbor City, NJ, on November 23, 1927, to Edward and Kathryn Archer. Her school years were spent at Egg Harbor City Schools, graduating as valedictorian of her high school class. In her younger years, she worked at George Otto's photography store, Better Built Doors, and in quality control at a local stocking factory. After WWII, Minerva's cousin introduced her to a friend, Wesley Stadlmeir. They quickly became an item and married in 1949. She then worked at New Jersey Bell Tel in Pleasantville, until they settled down in Absecon and started raising a family. She was a faithful Christian and was very active in several churches over the years, joining Women's Groups, Bible Studies, and being a Sunday School Teacher. She worked for a while as Absecon Presbyterian Church's secretary. She was a member of the Audubon Society and was known to take in any stray cat that was lucky enough to find itself in her yard. Minerva's talent as a seamstress earned her recognition among many in the area. Along with sewing for friends and family, she created gowns for Miss America chaperones. One client wore a gown she designed to an event in Europe, and it was commended as equal in quality to the dress of the Royals' who were in attendance. She enjoyed travel and was always planning the next family trip to Williamsburg, Disney, or the Shenandoah Mountains. And it's a good thing that she also enjoyed eating out at restaurants, because even she admitted that her home cooking was not the best!
Minerva is predeceased by her husband, Wesley G. Stadlmeir; parents, Edward and Kathryn (Wagner) Archer; brothers, Edward Jr, Wade and Chester; and sister, Caroline. She will be dearly missed by daughters, Gay (John) Channell, Donna (Earl) Thomas, and Kay Stadlmeir; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; also, a loving niece, Sharon Pomelear.
The family would like to thank Visiting Angels, Compassionate Care, and Seashore Gardens for helping Minerva through her final years.
