Otto H. Backer Jr.

Backer, Otto H. Jr., age 87, of Absecon passed away on Monday May 9, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Newark, NJ, He grew up in Caldwell, NJ before moving to Fairfield, NJ with his wife Mary. He was employed by United Parcel Service where he achieved 35 years safe driving before retiring. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy. In his 25 years of retirement he enjoyed boating and fishing on PeeWee along with his bird feeders and houses. Otto was especially proud of all his friends of Bill and all of the friends he met through Gilda’s Club. Otto is predeceased by his father, Otto and mother, Anna as well as his beloved daughter, Lisa. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary, daughter Linda (John), sister, Barbara, and daughter, Carol with whom he resided. Otto requested a brief graveside service will be 1PM on Friday, May 13, 2022 at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AA, or Gilda’s Club.
