Ralph J. Manley, Jr., ‘Bus’, passed away peacefully at the age of 83, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. He was born in Atlantic City and grew up in Pleasantville. He joined the army and traveled with his family throughout the United States and overseas. After retiring with over 20 years of service, he came back and settled in Absecon. He was a Past Master of the former Charles H. Mann Lodge of Pleasantville and a member of the Atlantic Lodge 221 in Absecon. Ralph was a member of the 23rd Past Masters and Wardens Association and the Absecon Methodist Church.
He is predeceased by his wife of 34 years, Janet Elizabeth Manley. He’s survived by his children, Debra (Bill) Manley-Hartman, of Absecon and Ralph C. (Michelle) Manley of Pomona; his grandchildren, Dennis ‘Tug’ (Tina) Smith, Race Manley, Lauren (Kris) Sickler and Ryan Manley; and his great-granddaughter, Alexandra Smith. ‘Bus’ is also survived by his sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10AM to 12PM, Monday, April 23, 2012 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 12PM. Burial will follow at The Methodist Church at Absecon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, 1035 Hooper Ave., Ste. 5, Toms River, NJ 08753.
