Raymond L. Strickland

Strickland Jr., Raymond L., 79, of Absecon, passed away December 11, 2017. Born in Atlantic City, he’s lived in Absecon for over 50 years. Ray owned and operated his own oil company, Strickland Oil, for over 50 years, retiring in 2001. At the same time he owned the Dairy Barn, a custard stand, in Absecon. He was a long-time member of the Absecon Kiwanis Club, where he served as treasurer. He was also a member of The Flying Club in the 70’s and 80’s. He was proud he was able to earn his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying his plane with other members of the club. He also was an avid boater, loving to take trips to the Inner Harbor of Baltimore and Annapolis. Ray always enjoyed spending time with his friends. He especially loved coffee with the group each morning at the local Burger King and McDonald’s. Ray always looked forward to the time he spent with his family, but especially his grandchildren. Ray was a good friend to many. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his generosity.

He is predeceased by his wife, Mary Strickland; and his sister, Joan Meno. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Sal Rodio; his niece, Susie Berndlmaier (Pete); his nephew, Jerry Meno (Dawn); his grandchildren, Christine Haentze (Dave), Melissa DeCicco (Lou), Lynsay Palow (Israel), Justin Meredith (Amber), Salvatore J. Rodio, III (Jessica); his 14 grandchildren; and his grandpups, Kailee and Ray Ray.

Visitation will be 10AM to 11:30AM on Friday December 15, 2017 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A service will follow at 11:30AM. Burial will be at Laurel Memorial Park, Egg Harbor Twp.
