Richard Waters

Richard Waters, 87, of Galloway, NJ, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Spring Village in Galloway. Born in Sterling, MA, he’s been a resident of Galloway for the past 6 years. Mr. Waters was a US Navy veteran of WW II and an Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He attended Harvard Business School where he attained his MBA. He worked as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Readers Digest Magazine in Chappequa, NY for over 30 years. After that, he served as Dean of External Affairs at Harvard Business School until 1980, when he was recruited to be publisher and CEO of Sporting News in St. Louis, working there for 10 years and retiring in 1990. Mr. Waters was an avid traveler with his wife, June. They were members of the Traveler Century Club. Locally, he and his wife belonged to Absecon Presbyterian Church, in Absecon.

He is predeceased by his son, Karl Waters. He is survived by his wife, June (nee Dorer) Waters; his sons, Kurt Waters and Kris and his wife Barbara Waters; his grandchildren, Michael, Thomas, Kelsey, Molly, Lindsey and Julia.

Services are private, under the direction of Parsels Funeral Home, Absecon.
