Robert E Kusnirik (Bob), 81, from Absecon, NJ, passed away December 15th, after a multi-year fight with prostate cancer. Bob was born in Trenton, NJ, to Andrew and Anna Kusnirik. He graduated from Trenton Catholic and attended Rider College and the University of Virginia School of Banking, before beginning a career in banking. That career eventually took him to South Jersey, where he relocated with his family, first to Northfield, and ultimately settling in Absecon in 1970, a city he truly loved, where he raised his family and enjoyed serving the community when he could.
After leaving his banking career, Bob opened his own Accounting office, where he practiced for many years before converting to a Property Manager and Real Estate Broker. As a Real Estate Broker, he owned and operated Village Realty Group / ATLAND Management, in Pleasantville, NJ, for many years, until his retirement.
Bob was proud of the many accomplishments he achieved in his life, including serving in the NJ Air National Guard, and then the NJ National Guard, where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant. He married his wife, Eileen, in 1959 and became a father to three boys, Bob, Jr., Mike and John.
In addition to his military career, Bob was active in the community, where he participated in many organizations. Bob was one of the founding members of what is now ASAC (The Absecon Social & Athletic Club), where he coached basketball and soccer for many years. He also served as a Councilman for the city of Absecon in the late 1980’s. In 1985, Bob was recognized by the Mainland Chamber of Commerce as the Mainlander of the Year, which he proudly accepted with his family by his side.
Bob is predeceased by his parents, Andrew Kusnirik, Sr. and Anna Kusnirik. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eileen, nee Hunger, his sons Robert, Jr. (Jennifer) of Mays Landing, NJ, Mike, of Carson, CA, and John, of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Brandon and Katelyn, his brother Andrew Kusnirik, Jr. (Gloria), of Trenton, NJ, many nieces and nephews and his lifelong friend, Kenneth Laino (Betty), who he met as a child in Trenton, and continued to be there with him until his passing. Bob will be missed greatly by all.
The viewing will be 9:15AM to 10:45AM on Wednesday December 20, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A funeral mass will follow at 11AM. Burial will private.
