Robert E. Martin, 37, of Sicklerville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on January 13, 2016 after battling sickle cell thalassemia disease since the age of 5. Born in Atlantic City, he grew up in Galloway before moving to Sicklerville with his family. Robert was employed with Stockton University in environmental services where he worked for the past 10 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed drawing various art projects and fishing. He attended St. Matthew’s Baptist Church for the past 4 years. Prior to that, he was a member of Trinity Alliance Church in Pomona.
He is survived by his parents, Ronnie J. and Jeanette (nee Gist) Martin; his brothers and sisters, Andre Martin, Damon (Shana) Martin, Vera Martin, Ronny Marie Martin and Ronnette (Matt) Phillips; his paternal grandmother, Shirley Massey and his maternal grandfather, Edward Gist; his oldest nephew Shaquile Martin as well as 8 other nieces and nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles and good friends.
Visitation will be 9AM to 10AM Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at St. Matthew’s Baptist Church, 245 Glassboro Road, Route 322, Williamstown, NJ. A service will immediately follow at 10AM. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing. Arrangements are under the direction of Parsels Funeral Home, Absecon.
