DeRitis, Rosalie C., 86, of Absecon, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2021, and was reunited with her parents, John and Bella Paparone. A resident of Absecon for the past 57 years, she was born and raised in Atlantic City and graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1952. She worked as a claims supervisor at the Unemployment Office for 15 years until leaving to raise her family, then returned to work there, as well as in the Attendance Office at Holy Spirit High School, when her children were older. She spent her later years spoiling her grandchildren and attending as many of their sporting events and other school activities as possible. She enjoyed knitting, cards and scrabble, as well as spending time with her family relaxing by the pool and playing yard games on the front lawn, but will always be remembered for her pizza and sour cream cookies, as well as her dancing (especially the jitterbug).
Rosalie was the beloved wife of John for 64 years, loving mother of Susan (late Norman) Hanratty and John Jr. (Sandra), and proud grandmother of Kristin & Ryan Hanratty and Katie DeRitis. She is also survived by her sisters, Charlotte (Walter) Krouse and Joanne (late Dr. Martin) Ney, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to give a special thanks to the caring staff at Seashore Gardens, especially her nurse, Heather.
Visitation will be from 9:30am-11:30am on Thursday, February 4th, at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave, Absecon, NJ, followed by a funeral mass at 12pm at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church located at 591 New Jersey Ave. Burial will be private.
