Rose Deiter, age 108, of Toms River, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Rose was born in Bayonne and lived there, Roselle and Whiting before moving to Toms River in 2007. She and her family had a summer home by the river in Beachwood for many years. Stories from the summer house are still told today. The daughter of Polish immigrants, she loved her country and was a proud American. Rose was predeceased by her husband Wesley; her son-in-law James Trotter; her daughter-in-law Barbara Deiter; and her siblings Joseph, Anna, Sophie, Frances, Irene and Helen. She is survived by her son, Robert; her daughter Rosemarie Trotter and her companion Mike Vulpis; her grandchildren Robert, Debra, Lynne (Andrew), James and Steven (Maureen); her great-grandchildren, Katherine, Eric, Meredith, Ally, Alex, Olivia, Victoria, Dylan, Nicole, Andrew, Katie and Emily; and many nieces and nephews. Rose was a devout Catholic and Rosarian and lived her life with a deep faith in God. She was an active parishioner for many years of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church in Whiting before moving to Toms River where she attended St. Luke's RC Church. Rose was known for her kindness and joyful personality. She loved bingo and the slots at Atlantic City. Rose was an animal lover and loved to crochet blankets for her family and friends. She loved to travel, Jamaica and Florida being favorite destinations. Rose could often be found sitting outside enjoying the warmth of the sun on her face. Her greatest joy was her family and she loved spending time with her entire family. She will be deeply missed. Visitation will be 5PM to 9PM Friday, February 19, 2016 at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Rd., Manchester. The family will also gather at the funeral home from 8AM to 8:45AM Saturday morning at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be offered 9:15AM at St. Luke RC Church, 1674 Old Freehold Rd., Toms River. Burial will follow at St. Mary of The Lake Cemetery, Lakewood. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org.
