Ruth M. Slowick

Ruth M. Slowick, 82 of Little Egg Harbor, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Philadelphia, she was raised and resided there for many years before moving to Southern Jersey where she lived in Somers Point, Galloway, Barnegat and lastly, Little Egg Harbor. She worked many years as a certified nurse’s aide at Northeastern Hospital in Philadelphia, retiring in 1992. Ruth was very proud of her Lenape Indian heritage. She was very involved with Native American culture and learning about its history. She was also a very spiritual person, praying not only for her family, but for anyone, even those she never met, in need of prayers. While in Barnegat, she was active at St. Mary’s Church. She enjoyed praying the rosary, very faithfully and often.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Gracia, Jennifer (Joseph Esposito) Cropper (nee Arlan) and Jeanett Lockerson; her grandchildren, Ashley Cropper, Lauren McCormick, Ryan Cropper and William and Dylan Hewitt; her great-grandchildren, Makayla Polus and Nathan Stargell; and her brother and sister, Earl (Marie) Lockerson and Violet Lockerson.

A memorial gathering will be 9AM to 11AM Friday, December 4, 2015, with a funeral service beginning at 11AM at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. Interment will be private. For those wishing, online condolences may be made at www.parselsfh.com.
