Salvatore Savarese, 74, of Galloway, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014. Born in Piano Di Sorrento, Italy, he came to the United States in 1961, living in Waterford Twp. and Atlantic City before moving to Galloway 30 years ago. Mr. Savarese was a chef and baker, working in Italy and at several local restaurants in the area, lastly at Tulipano in Egg Harbor Twp., retiring in 2005. Mr. Sararese was very proud of his Italian heritage and loved sharing stories about how he has cooked for stars such as the Rat Pack. He also enjoyed tending his garden and relaxing and listening to the music of his birth.
He is predeceased by his parents, Gaetano and Luisa (Marulo) Savarese. He is survived by his wife, Vincenza Savarese; his children, Gaetano Savarese, Antonino Savarese, Salvatore Savarese, Jr., Gaetano Michael Savarese; and his grandchildren, Juliano, Giovanny and Domenick Savarese also Devin and David Gonzalez.
Visitation will be 9AM to 10:45AM, Monday, December 29, 2014, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Church of the Assumption, 146 S. Pitney Rd., Galloway, where a funeral mass will be offered at 11AM. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing. For online condolences, please visit www.parselsfh.com.
