Obituary For Shirley M. Shiavino
Shirley M. Schiavino, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2024 after a long illness. She was born on August 10, 1934 and was a lifelong resident of Port Republic, N.J. She was one of the founding members of the Highland Community Church and worked in the cafeteria at Absegami H.S. She loved God, her family and friends, playing games and crafting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Florence (Loveland) Tomlinson; her sister, Vivian Giacoma; and her husbands, William Simpkins and Valentino Schiavino. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia A. Powell (Edward); sons, William L. Simpkins Jr. (Peggy) and Wayne L. Simpkins (Lois); 8 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted on Saturday July 13, 2024 at the Highland Community Church, 515 S. 4th Ave., Galloway, NJ 08205, with viewing at 2PM followed by a celebration of her life at 3PM. Graveside service will follow at the Port Republic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Highland Community Church at the above listed address. We will miss Shirley tremendously. What a special lady. I know Gene misses her, as she was the first one to talk with him when we started at Highland. We love her, and may she rest peacefully in God's arms.
